Ensuring Alfa is a welcoming place for all

We have a variety of teams and employee-led communities in each of the regions we operate in, all passionately engaged with Alfa’s social impact and ensuring it is a welcoming place for all.

As an example of the many great initiatives that have originated from our communities, 2022 saw the introduction of the Alfa Work Experience scheme in EMEA, championed and led by the Alfa for Racial Equity Community. This scheme gives students who would not normally have the opportunity an "in" to experience working in a fintech environment.

Our partnership with Change Please in EMEA

We have recently partnered with Change Please in EMEA, a social enterprise which supports people experiencing homelessness by training them up and finding them a living wage job. Our in-house café Moor at our London HQ is now one of the Change Please cafes, adding to their safe spaces for baristas to gain more experience, build up their CVs and hopefully open up future job opportunities.

Promoting Awareness

How we promote and increase awareness on key issues

We run Inclusive Recruitment training for everyone involved in our recruitment process, and continue to hold a diverse series of talks, events and activities run by our communities to promote and increase awareness on key issues.

In celebration of diversity, we launched Cultural Days in 2022. These flexible days allow our people to swap in and out of national public holidays that might not match their particular values, beliefs or heritage.

Gender Pay Gap

Pushing for equality

Throughout the year, we sponsored recruitment events such as Bright Network’s Women in Tech and Women in STEM events. Through our recruitment partners we proactively target diverse groups through email marketing and campaigning. Of our graduate applications in the UK, around 30% of the applications we received were from female candidates. This ratio is a general representation of the gender make-up in the early careers.
