Candidates often ask if they need a technical background do well in this role. The simple answer is no! We look for people with outstanding talent and achievement, including an excellent academic record from any background. This means a 3.2 GPA or above, in any discipline. When you join Alfa, we’ll teach you everything you need to know.
Although the job entails technology and finance, experience in these areas is not a prerequisite.
Our training teaches you all you need to know, but your interest in these areas must be genuine.
Every aspect of an Alfa Systems implementation is carried out together with the client, so you’ll be willing to work in different locations around the world.
Our intake usually happens once a year when we start the program after graduation in June. However, if this time doesn’t suit, we’re happy to accommodate your needs.

About Life as a Software Engineer
As a Junior Software Engineer, some of the work you will be involved in is designing and developing software and functionality as required by our clients, testing that all software and solutions work, and providing support to clients throughout the go-live process and into the future.
About Life as an Analyst
As a Solution Architect, you will be involved in developing small enhancements, building pre-designed client-specific integration solutions, developing automated tests and helping to deliver a fit-for-purpose end-to-end solution for a product, supporting one or more projects.
Your career at Alfa
Everyone starts induction at our London HQ, where you will attend your first three weeks of training.
After an action-packed first week learning all about our company and the industry, you’ll move away from training in the traditional sense and into a more dynamic learning environment. In this hands-on phase of induction, you will learn to deliver real business value and have impact from day one on the job.
Your Performance and Development
Throughout your career, your performance and development process will give you formal feedback about your work and identify development needs. The process lets you know how you are progressing, where you are particularly strong, and where you should be channelling your efforts. This enables you to manage the pace and direction of your own career.
Our Learning and Development team provides a wide-ranging suite of learning opportunities for all employees to learn at a pace they are comfortable with. Throughout your career, your manager will provide support and advice to help you realize your potential, and be the best you can be.
Where will I be based?
Our US offices are in Birmingham, MI or Dallas, TX. However, you may find yourself traveling to various cities throughout the US or on one of a range of international assignments.
All the stages of the standard project lifecycle are carried out with the client, so you will need to be willing to work at different locations around the country.
Our Junior Software Engineers and Analysts are academically strong, which means a GPA of 3.2 and above in any degree discipline from a top university.
The ability to work in teams and build effective relationships with all levels of the company is essential. You will also need strong interpersonal and communication skills, initiative, and a logical approach to problem solving.
The Way In
The Recruitment Process
Getting to know you. There will be a brief telephone interview where we learn about you and why you want to work for Alfa. We may also meet you at a career fair to kick off the conversation about what you are looking for, and tell you about our graduate program.
First interview. This will be a video call with representatives from HR and the business.
Final interview. This will be with two members of senior management.
We’ll let you know as soon as possible whether we are making an offer, then arrange with you which of our intakes is most convenient to start.

How can I prepare for the interview process?
You know what qualities and skills you bring to us, so make sure you tell us. We need to be sure you are actually interested in the different facets of the role, so researching and showing an enthusiasm for the industry and our projects is a must. Showing how you stand out from the crowd can be tough, so think about it before the interview about the achievements and experiences that make you the best person for the job.
How much time will I spend coding?
Every new joiner at Alfa starts off by learning our product from the inside out; that means software development. After your initial training, you will join an implementation role on one of our client projects.
What is the dress code?
Our dress code is casual.
How will I get to know my colleagues?
We are a pretty social bunch at Alfa. We have monthly social evenings, quarterly Company Meetings and two Conferences per year.
Where is Alfa based?
You will be based in one of our US offices in Birmingham, MI or Dallas, TX. We also have our headquarters in London and offices in Australia and New Zealand.
