Corporate Social Responsibility

Csr 1

“It is crucial to the vitality of our business that we contribute to the wider society. We are in a position to provide assistance and expertise to the communities in which we operate, and therefore have an obligation to do so, be that through the provision of interview training in local schools, or fundraising for our charity partners.”

Andrew Denton, Chief Executive Officer

At Alfa we have a passion for using our expertise to create shared value for the communities in which we work. We believe that our corporate activity should positively impact the lives and livelihoods of everyone we work with, as well as the wider community.

Our dedicated Corporate Social Responsibility team has been in place for over a decade, with team members drawn from across the company.

The collaborative nature of our culture means that we see active employee engagement in a wide variety of activities, from our employee volunteering scheme, fundraising for charity partners, donation of equipment such as old laptops to local schools, a commitment to reducing our environmental impact and much more.

We also actively encourage employees, clients and other partners to suggest new ways in which we can improve our social impact.

Volunteering

Alfa’s long-established volunteering scheme is a big selling point for new joiners to the company. We offer six days’ paid volunteering per year, and have a framework in place to help employees choose a suitable volunteering opportunity.

Over the years we have enjoyed a number of long-term partnerships with charity organisations, and actively support them by sending employees to volunteer their skills in a variety of ways; from programming a new state-of-the-art website, to offering interview practice to deprived teenagers.

Recently we have started working with The Ministry of Stories, which aims to build confidence, self-respect and communication skills in local schoolchildren, an experience which is as far away from our day job as you can imagine.

All employees are encouraged to take an active part in the schemes we offer, and volunteers range in seniority from Junior Consultant to our CEO.

Fundraising

London's Air Ambulance

In 2015 and 2016 we partnered with London's Air Ambulance to help raise funds for a much needed second helicopter to support operations across the city. Over the course of the partnership we raised over £18,000, taking part in activities such as the RideLondon 100 mile cycle, the Bear Grylls Survival Race, and abseiling from the LAA helipad. This figure helped LAA to successfully fund its second helicopter and equated to seven potentially life-saving missions.

Cancer Research UK

From 2017 we are partnering with Cancer Research UK, the UK’s largest cancer charity, and aim to make this a record year for our fundraising efforts both in terms of the amount raised and the number of people involved across the company. We will also use this as an opportunity to take part in CRUK’s various cancer awareness initiatives.
